Global Connexions, the brainchild of Bay of Plenty textile and technology teachers, started in 2004. The show was rebranded in 2015, we needed a brand that would speak to the vision of the show and going forward. A brand that inspires creativity, encourages participation and excellence.
We have taken inspiration from the sewing room to create a flexible and evolving brand going forward. In the name, we wanted to speak to both the pride of participating – in pinning something to your chest – and the detail that's involved in creating a winning garment or textile art piece – pin point accuracy. Introducing the Pin'd Creative Showcase. Pin'd is all about pride in achievement – a true badge of honour for students.
The Pin’d designer show case is a fashion design competition open to garments and textile art designed by intermediate and secondary school Textile students.
The judges are composed of both fashion lovers and industry professionals. The best designs are selected according to form, functional and emotional aspects of the apparels; the fashion designs are considered for their degree of innovation, aesthetic qualities, choice of materials, fabric and techniques, in addition to the specific criteria for sub categories.
When submitting your entry to the competition keep in mind that your submission will be evaluated on the judging criteria together with the garment or textile art work. Applicants should send high-resolution images of the design, together with any relevant information relating to your chosen section. For more information see the section and entry conditions.
